Atlanta,GA woman defended herself and lived.

May 8th, 2012

Recently I was watching a new-talk TV show and the anchor was questioning an woman in Atlanta, Ga who was attacked while getting into her car.  She was beaten and traumatized and was recounting how this beast grabbed her as she was walking to her car.  The struggle lasted a few minutes and the victim had the presence of mind to kick, scream and yell.  As I have said in the past, your first line of defense  is just that.  The perp was masked but when a neighbor heard the commotion, he must have removed the mask.  Brilliant move on his part.  I imagine he thought he would be unidentifiable without the mask, since he attacked the victim with one on, duh.  Of course the crime proves that most of these jerks haven’t the brains to wipe their own noses.  This was a daytime grab in a quiet nice neighborhood.  It had to be nice because a neighbor actually showed their face and even gave a description of the SOB to the cops.  Let me say that without any defensive weaponry, the screaming, biting, scratching and kicking, probably saved her life.

It matters not where you live, a government that promulgates laws that imposes sanctions against you to not use a stun gun or pepper spray is problematic to say the least.

That said, lets examine the rational of many beureaucrats.

beureaucrat  is a haughty, arbitrary, unelected, minor yet locally powerful government functionary whose unreasonable decisions cannot be appealed, as opposed to bureaucrats who sometimes do good things while serving the freedoms that we have fought for and defend daily.

Governments that provide much to its citizens are governments that want total control over the freedoms I mentioned earlier.  They have to have that power in order to subjugate you.  Your feeding at the trough gives them your votes to continue this blasphemy against our God given rights to freedom and liberty.  Defense of ourselves and our loved ones is an inalienable right of the people.   We probably can’t defend the country like the armed forces,  but we see that auxillaries can provide some risistance to criminals.  Even with that said, you must defend yourselves against the mugger, the vandal or the murderer. Cops can only do so much.  It takes time for the 911 call to be responded to and then dispatching a car.

Protection in the forms of non-lethal weaponry  is still available. Lethal firearms are besieged by government and civilian do-gooders who hate guns.  If the citizenry has firepower, then government can’t control them. The beureaucrats and the civilian lackeys will do anything to take control.  Passing dumb laws that hog-tie industry through bills that schelch enterprize is probably the best example of this.

Unfortunately businesses that provide the manufacture of guns and bullets must meet EPA standards and these standards can easily end those businesses.  Someone recently asked me if I had invested in precious metals, he didn’t mean gold and silver he meant lead and brass.  That’s right, there is a shortage of bullets out there.

Caught On Camera Can Save A Life!

May 3rd, 2012

Most people when they read the phrase caught on camera think about funny home videos, but this phase also has a dark side
Lately in the news there are more and more items about that dark side of the hidden camera.

  • Baby sitters getting caught doing things they are not suppose to do.
  • Nurses in nursing homes abusing their elderly patients.
  • And something not as harmful, but still alarming, shoplifters caught on camera.

While about everyone is aware of the fact, that most stores use hidden or even visible camera systems. It still surprises me how many people get caught shoplifting on camera.

The use of hidden video cameras is wide spread and in some cities even the police use them.
My local bank has cameras installed inside and outside. Even at the ATM.

A simple search on the internet for caught on camera under the search for news brought me these numbers.

  • Caught on camera shows 5320 websites

  • Caught on tape shows 2460 websites

  • Caught on video camera 1510 websites.

This means that all these sites are talking or have something on them about spy cameras and the use of them.

There are al lot of cameras used for commercial purposes.
It is my opinion that there is an affordable system available for about every budget.

First you have to decide what you will use the camera for
Is it a hidden camera system to catch someone doing something, or a visible camera system to show people that you watch your property?

A  hidden nanny camera however is a different story.
Although you could hire a company to install a system,  it is most likely more affordable to buy one and install it yourself.

The latest technology gave the option to place cameras in objects that we use on a daily basis in our home or business.
The easiest to use and install yourself, are hidden cameras with DVR.
There is  wide range of products available that have these hidden DVR cameras build in.
The new DVR technology provides us with a recording device that has no moving parts anymore.
Everything is digital recorded on a build in DVR, in the object we use as a hidden nanny camera.

There are hidden cameras for most jobs.

Here is a short list of hidden cameras with DVR and the products they come in.

  • Wall clock
  • Alarm clock
  • Air freshener
  • Exit sign
  • Electrical outlet
  • Air purifier
  • Teddy bear

Another big advantage of these hidden cameras with build in DVR, is that you can watch the recording on  your computer or TV.
Most of the time you can either take the memory card out,  or connect the whole system to your TV or computer.

What I think is one of the best features, and I would advise you to look for that, is the motion activation feature.
This will make the camera only record when there is actually something happening.
This feature will save you from going through hours and hours of footage with nothing to see.

A sum up of the benefits of a hidden cameras with DVR.

  • Affordable
  • Easy to set up
  • No technical skill required
  • No wires
  • Watch it on TV or computer.
  • No empty recordings.

Only You can Prevent Disaster with Self Defense Products

May 2nd, 2012

Two young people, well liked and secure in their lives were attacked on a Saturday night as they drove home from a show.  Without  provocation and without any defensive weapons these kids where jumped by a band of ignorant and blood thirsty goons.

They had stopped at a red light.  And a crowd of at least 100 young people walking on the sidewalk surrounded them.  The girl  locked her car door. Someone threw a rock at her window. He got out to confront the rock-thrower!!  Brilliant idea, he must have had a death wish.  Without any thought of how he was going to succeed in obtaining reparation for this stupid and dangerous rock throwing,  he was  brought down by the mob and that’s when the beating began. Now you know that the situation was handled badly from the get go.  What peace officer would tag these kids for running a light?  Please teach your kids self defense thinking.

The victim’s friend, a young woman, tried to pull him back into his car. Attackers came after her, pulling her hair, punching her head and causing a bloody scratch to the surface of her eye. She called 911. A recording told her all lines were busy. She called again. Busy. On her third try, she got through and, hysterical, could scream only their location.

Wave after wave of young men surged forward to take turns punching and kicking their victim.

It happened four blocks from where they work.

Grim, growing city epidemic requires self defense products

May 1st, 2012

Police statistics show, more than 34% of all robberies in the five boroughs of New York involve a cell phone. The police have said that the theft of cell phones has increased 54% between 2007 and 2011 and sometimes the robberies turn violent.  Maybe the cell phone you carry is not just a cell phone but a self defense weapon.

February 11 2012:

A 48 year old man was robbed outside the A train station on a8ast st in Washington Heights.  The victim was punched in the face by a punk who then snatched his iPhone and wallet before fleeing.

February 17, 2012:

Andrew Wang, 81 was pushed on the tracks in the Lorimer St. J train station in Brooklyn after he chased two thieves who stole his iPhone. Wang was treated for minor injuries at Woodhull Hospital. Two teens were later found and arrested.

April 19, 2012:

Hwang Yang, 26, was shot dead by a pair of bandits who stole his iPhone. The accused thieves – Dominick Davis, 21 and Alejandro Campos, 21 – were charged in killing after they posted the stolen smart-phone for sale on craigslist.

Can anyone find a reason for not protecting yourself from these scumbags?  These reports where just for a few days and in a city where you can’t protect yourself.  New York maintains that self defense with any type of product is deemed unlawful and conviction carries it very heavy fines and or jail time.  So you can’t defend yourself with a weapon, but the savages have all the weapons to commit crimes against you.  Makes a-lot of sense, right?  Those of you who live in the America I am proud of must defend your rights and use what ever products available to protect yourselves and your loved ones.  Even flexible steel batons  are illegal in  Massachusetts, California, Washington, D.C. and New York.

Stun Guns are Non-lethal Self Defense Weapons

April 28th, 2012

A stun gun is a wonderfully effective piece of non-lethal self-defense hardware and I think a device that any law abiding citizen should have the right to carry one.  However, before you decide to jump online and buy a stun gun there are some things to consider.

First and foremost you have to make sure that owning and carrying a stun gun is legal in your area. Most states have no restrictions whatsoever on stun devices but 11 states do have some restrictions.

Stun guns are completely illegal to buy, sell or own in the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. This is a total travesty and should be changed as quickly as possible.  What the governments in the Distrcit of Columbia and the other states have mandated that they are second class citizens.   In Wisconsin and Illinois stun guns are legal but with certain restrictions.

Hopefully you live in a state where it’s legal to possess one, either outright or with a firearm license.

The differences  between stun guns and pepper spray includes effectiveness, legalities, size, immobilization capabilities to mention  just a few.

It’s  extremely important to remember that although stun devices were designed as a non-lethal alternative to firearms they still possess the ability to injure or even kill.  Any self-defense device that is going to be effective is certainly going to come with an inherent safety risk.

Keep a stun device away from children. These devices are not nearly as dangerous as a firearm but they are certainly still dangerous and should be treated as such.

Seniors need self defense products

April 28th, 2012

I don’t know about you, but I have reached a plateau in my life where I am no longer a kid. The fact of the matter is that I’m not even mature anymore.  Does this mean I’m not the angry old man on the block or just the aged erstwhile man who does chores around the house.

Long ago the picture of  a feeble, gray-haired little old lady or man wearing glasses and walking slowly with a cane  is mostly a thing of the past.  Now you  picture an active gray-haired lady or man speed-walking or playing tennis with some friends?

With the aging of the Baby Boomers, your idea of “senior” may be very different from what it used to be.  Boomers are active, healthy, and on the go. Many still hold a job or are working part-time after retirement or volunteering. They’re not stopping, and they’re the largest age group in the US right now.

So,  they need self defense products  Everyone needs something to defend themselves-young, old, disabled, female or male, weak or strong.

Perhaps a mini  panic alarm to attract attention may fend off a possible attack, or a small stun gun with a wrist strap to press into someone grabbing them. There are also weaponry with more power and force like the Taser™ line of products

When it comes to home security, a simple  electronic barking dog alarm may alert him or her that someone is approaching their home.  More elaborate warning devises for home or business consist of both a basic system and the advanced program.

A more active senior may have more choices due to his or her abilities, but regardless of age, there are products that will fit everyone’s situation.

Being aware holds true of all ages The senior has been around the park many times and is probably more aware of danger.  So as the scouts say; “Be Prepared”.

Let there be Light for safety and security

April 27th, 2012

I don’t know about you but I often find that the lights in closets are shadowed under shelves.  This particular problem seems to manifest itself when your in a rush to find something.  A lot of these “closet lights”  are sold at grocery and  hardware stores for a few bucks.  Unfortunately they don’t provide much light and usually don’t last long either.  The 27 LED WORKLIGHT features 24 super bright, long lasting LED’s,with an additional 3 directional lights.  The 27 LED Work Light is equipped with a magnetic back that will attach to most surfaces, and a strong fold away swivel hook.  Compact size makes it perfect to keep in glove or tool box.  Ergonomic construction, shockproof and waterproof!  (Uses 3 AAA batteries, included)

Personal Alarms and Safety

April 27th, 2012

The recent story about the young child in Maine underpins the need for constant vigilance in today’s society.   Until it is known what has happened to this latest child, we can only surmise that for one reason or another a child has gone missing again.  Have you ever experienced the horror of thinking  your child is missing or lost? We have all had the gut-wrenching  feeling of turning around on a busy street and finding that our child is nowhere in sight.  Now this could be prevented with the new improved CHILD GUARD PANDA.  Worn by the child, the cartoon animal-shaped transmitter sends a constant signal to the receiver, which is held by the adult.  The signal is adjustable – from a distance of 3 to 21 f eet, so when the child goes beyond the set distance, the adult’s receiver starts to beep, letting them know that the child is starting to wander off or being taken.  The child guard is worn on the child’s wrist.  Other than having you children impeded with a GPS devise, this might be your best way to relieve the pain of a missing child.

“Stand Your Ground” leads to a felony conviction and 20 years

April 26th, 2012

Fla. Stat. § 776.012. Use of force in defense of person

A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if:

(1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony; or

So the general rule is that deadly force may be used only to “imminent death or great bodily harm,” or “the imminent commission of a forcible felony.” A person may only use deadly force if he “reasonably believes” that the aforesaid factual conditions exist. These standards are the norm throughout the United States.

A Florida mom faces 20 years in prison because a judge rejected her “stand your ground” defense. It appears that Marissa Alexander, mom of three fired a warning shot into the ceiling of her home, when allegedly being attacked by an abusive husband.  The Court denied the “Stand your Ground” motion presented by her attorney.  The Court said that because there where children in the home that the discharge constituted aggravated battery. Since there where three kids that’s three counts.  Whether you agree or disagree with the findings is not important.  What is important is that lethal weapons are a pariah.  The second amendment gives us all the right to bear arms, but Courts interpret laws differently.  In the case of Ms.Alexander, the costs of this action are yet to be seen.  The law for the aggravated battery decision authorizes a twenty year prison sentence.

Lets examine this situation in the light 0f the ambiguity of this action.  Even though she was in imminant danger of injury to herself and her children, she stood her ground.  She fired a round in the air.   This evidently placed her in jeopardy only underlying the fact that self defense with lethal arms can cause severe problems.  The availability of defensive pepper spray or mace, and the power of a stun gun or Taser™ could have saved her a great deal of trouble and still have protected her from an irate spouse.  I don’t know what kind of a gun she used but most cost over $300.  Pepper spray is minimal and the taser is inexpensive and so much safer.  In situations like this my apprisal to run would not have applied.

Defense Against Road Rage. Use your Auto Emergency Tool

April 25th, 2012

Preventing Road Rage: “Every day, thousands of drivers experience some form of road rage or aggressive driving,” Melton offers steps for avoiding a road rage situation—or getting away from it safely.

You’re being tailgated by someone who is wildly gesticulating and honking the horn. What do you do?

Put on your turn signal, pull over in a safe place and let the other car pass. Do it quickly, before the  angry driver has time to become even more upset. Give a courteous “I’m sorry” wave—even if you feel you’re not at fault. An apology can often help defuse anger.

What should you do if the other driver continues to follow?

Stay calm. Don’t make any rude hand gestures. Avoid eye contact. And don’t speed up to try to get away. Quickly find a busy gas station to turn into or, better still, a police station—anywhere with people around to help. Above all, don’t go home (you don’t want the other driver to know where you live), and don’t get out of your car until it’s safe.

How do you avoid enraging other drivers?

Signal your intentions early. When you merge, make sure you have plenty of room. Don’t cut people off. Use the left lane for passing, and then pull back into the right lane. Driving slowly in the left lane on the road is a sure way to anger other drivers and compromise your safety. Stay focused, which means not making phone calls or texting. And never pull out into traffic expecting that other drivers will slow down or swerve to avoid you.

How do you avoid becoming a “road rager “yourself?

Don’t take it personally. If someone cuts you off, let it go. Driving is not a contest. Turn down the loud music. And avoid raising your heart rate by giving yourself more time to get to your destination.

These are all facts that could even save your life.  There are alot of nuts out there, and you may be one of them if you don’t consider the previous assertions.  Another life saver is the ultimate vehicle safety kit which should be in each of your cars or trucks.  It can provide you with the very latest in security for your entire family.
